Train
Steinkjer is well connected by rail, as part of the Nordland track. Every hour trains leave and arrive to/from Trondheim. In Trondheim you can make connections to Sweden and Southern Norway.
Car
E6 passes through Steinkjer. This is a road starting in Trelleborg, in Southern Sweden and ending in Kirkenes in Northern Norway. From the east, follow E14 to Trøndelag.
Steinkjer is located at the inner end of Trondheimsfjorden, making boats an option. However, no public marine transportation is available. If you sail yourself, Steinkjer can offer a marina.
